The production version of the Euro-spec Suzuki Baleno will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show. The made in India hatchback, which is already on sale in the country and doing well, will be showcased on March 1 in Geneva and will be launched in the UK in June this year.
Unlike the India-spec model, the Baleno for Europe will feature a 1-litre, direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine. The hatchback will also get a 1.2-litre SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) powertrain featuring engine assist from an integrated starter generator connected to a lithium ion battery.
Further details on the Euro-spec Suzuki Baleno will be announced during its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show. What’s certain though is that this new model will be positioned above the Swift and take on the Volkswagen Polo in Europe as its arch rival. Suzuki, then, is expected to price the Baleno quite attractively to fend off competition from the Polo and a few other mid-size hatchbacks in Europe.
