Suzuki announced that they will introduce an automatic diesel variant of the SX4 S-Cross. Speculations are that the oil-burner will come mated to the AMT gearbox.
It was at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show where Suzuki unveiled the SX4 S-Cross for the European market. The crossover is currently on sale in Europe and is produced at the manufacturer's Magyar facility in Hungary. The car comes in both petrol and diesel engine variants, the former being available with an automatic gearbox. While the petrol is offered with both manual and CVT gearboxes, the oil-burner comes only with a six-speed manual transmission.
However, by the middle of this year, Suzuki will introduce an automatic transmission on the diesel engine. There is no confirmation about the gearbox that will be used, but it is most likely that the diesel mill will come mated to an AMT gearbox.
The SX4 S-Cross was unveiled at the 2014 Expo in India and has been spied testing several times in our country. The car might be launched in a couple of months and we can also expect the arrival of the AMT gearbox with the diesel variant. It will be the first time that the AMT gearbox from Magneti Marelli will be used on a crossover. At present, the AMT transmission is offered in the Celerio, Alto K10 and the Tata Zest. Indian consumers have accepted the new technology and it will be rolled across many other products in the Indian market.
