Suzuki has taken the wraps off its all-new 1.4-litre BoosterJet engine, at the Auto Shanghai 2015 Show, in China. This turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine will reduce emissions and drive up the fuel efficiency, without compromising on the car’s performance.
The four-pot engine uses a host of technologies like direct injection, high pressure fuel pumps and a turbocharger to improve the efficiency of combustion. The compact and lightweight architecture of the engine should make it compatible with a range of cars from different segments.
Earlier this year, Suzuki had unveiled the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine in the iK-2 hatchback concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The BoosterJet engines will initially be available only in the Chinese market. Considering their capacity and performance, we can expect them to be used in Maruti Suzuki’s future range of compact SUVs and sedans.
