Back in February this year, Suzuki added a new special edition version of the Swift in the UK. Following its successful initial stint in the market, the brand has recently reintroduced the special edition Swift. Called the Swift SZ-L, the hatchback is priced between £11,099 (Rs 11.40 lakh) and £11,599 (Rs 11.91 lakh) for the three-door and the five-door models respectively.
The SZ-L version is based on the standard Swift SZ3 variant, but with additional equipment and features designed to enhance the sporty nature of the car. While the SZ3 variant comes standard with features including airbags, ESP, air conditioning, USB port and Bluetooth connectivity, the SZ-L adds LED daytime running lights and cruise control from the higher-spec SZ4 variant.
Features exclusive to the SZ-L version includes 2-tone metallic paintwork as standard; in either Boost Blue or Cosmic Black body colours with contrasting white roof, rear spoiler and door mirrors. Inside, Suzuki is offering silver stitching for the steering wheel, gear knob and the seats.
Mechanically, the Swift SZ-L remains unchanged and continues to source power from the 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 93bhp of power. The engine enables the Swift to accelerate from zero to 100kmph in 12.3 seconds and hit a top speed of over 160kmph.
The existing Swift sold in the UK is the facelifted version of the popular hatchback which debuted last year. Featuring LED daytime running lights, more equipment and revised upholstery, the facelifted model is yet to go on sale in the Indian market. However, if recent reports are to be believed, Maruti Suzuki could be on its way to launch the facelifted Swift in the Indian market to take on the upcoming next-generation Hyundai i20 and the new Honda Jazz.
