Suzuki Motor Corporation, the parent company of Maruti Suzuki, may set up a second manufacturing unit in Haryana. It is already building a major plant in Gujarat which will be ready in 2018 and is likely to add more to boost its total output to 1.5 million units by the end of the decade.
This was conveyed by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar during the Make in India event. He added that they had already spoken with a senior member of the management of the Japanese automaker in this regard. They were also working on fast tracking all clearance and processes to ensure ease of business in the state.
There has been a great spurt in the manufacturing sector in India and it would only seem logical for Suzuki to move forward with this plan. It is already producing the Baleno hatchback for all global markets at its Manesar plant.
