The Suzuki Swift recently reached three million sales mark, of these the UK market constituted around 80,000 units since the hatchback was introduced in early 2005. Now Suzuki seems to have timed the launch of a limited edition Swift called the SZ-L to coincide with milestone.
Based on the UK spec SZ3 variant (the equivalent of our VXi variant), the car has been given a cosmetic makeover in the form of a roof spoiler, tinted rear glass, special metallic paint and special 16-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the upholstery has been given a red stitching and this includes the steering wheel and the gear knob. Along with standard features of the SZ3 variant, this car also gets cruise control. The SZ-L kit is available on the three door and five variants but only with the four-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol mill that churns out 94bhp and 118Nm of torque.
Since we have been one of the biggest markets for the Swift it is high time that Maruti gave us (Indian market) at least one special or sporty variant of the Swift. But then in India, Maruti generally launches special editions only when sales for a particular model dip, so we will probably not see a limited version any time soon.
The SZ-L three door Swift has been priced at 12, 719 GBP (Rs 10.5 lakh on-road) the five-door version has been priced at 13, 219 GBP (Rs 11 lakh on-road) and is currently on sale in the UK.
