The five-seat Suzuki Ignis which serves the international market now comes with Harman infotainment system. The move indeed spices up the car’s proposition in its segment. Harman, the audio and infotainment company has officially been handed over the contract to supply infotainment units for the Suzuki Ignis.
The Harman infotainment system which is offered in the Ignis features a special HMI (Human Machine Interface), which offers navigation support and easy smartphone integration. The system also offers voice-recognition function and Apple CarPlay support. Suzuki’s subsidiary in India, Maruti has only been offering SmartPlay infotainment system on higher variants for premium models.
At the 2016 Auto Expo event that concluded earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki had showcased the Ignis micro SUV. The vehicle will be launched around the festive season this year. However, it is to be seen if the India-bound Ignis will also get a Harman infotainment system or retain the SmartPlay infotainment system.
The India-bound Maruti Ignis will be offered with standard safety features like driver and passenger airbags, and ABS with EBD. Under the hood, the Ignis is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine and 1.3-litre DDiS engine options. The petrol variant will be offered with an optional CVT transmission apart from a five-speed manual transmission. The diesel will be offered with a five-speed manual transmission. The official prices are not out yet, but we can expect that the Maruti Ignis might be priced around Rs 5 – 7 lakh.
