Suzuki has been testing a new hatchback internationally and it has been spied by a source. The test mule was heavily camouflaged, but going by the spy pics, it’s proportions look larger than the Swift. This indicates that the new hatchback will be positioned higher than the Swift.
There isn’t much to write looking at the spy pictures, but the front bumper is large and might get a small smiling grille. The front bumper also had Daytime Running Lights which apparently weren’t glowing. The sweptback headlamps are thinner in comparison to the Swift and although the tail lamps are exposed, those are stickers hiding the actual design underneath. However, it is a test mule and design cues could change drastically.
These are still early days to guess anything about the car and we aren’t sure what it will be called. Internationally, there are rumours that it will be called the Baleno. In India, we don’t expect it to be called the Baleno when it is launched. It is highly likely that this model could make its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo. This new hatchback might be the B+ segment model which is internally codenamed as the YRA. The YRA is rumoured to be made at Suzuki’s new upcoming plant in Gujarat when it is functional and until then it will come out of Manesar.
