Today, we all spend a considerable amount of time in our cars, either being stuck in traffic, long drives or weekend road trips. As a result, it has become crucial to maintain a healthy connection with our cars and with the radical advancements in digital technology, this has also become possible. In its next big step towards improving your driving and car owning experience, Maruti Suzuki has launched Suzuki Connect, a device like no other.
Suzuki Connect, an Advanced Telematics Solution is developed and tested in India to offer a seamless connected car experience to the Indian car users. The hardware and software of the Suzuki Connect have been developed from the ground up, keeping the Indian consumer in mind and how the new-gen of car buyers want their vehicles to be connected.
Available for all NEXA cars, the Suzuki Connect empowers the owner to control a myriad of advanced connected services.
Unlike other on-board diagnostics (OBD) based tools, the Suzuki Connect is a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) based hardware. Since it is integrated into the vehicles ECU (engine control unit) and not a plug-and-play device, it is completely safe and almost impossible to tamper with.
So, how does the Suzuki Connect work? The Suzuki Connect is an optional feature the car buyers can opt for in their NEXA cars which includes the Baleno, Ignis, Ciaz and S-Cross. Once installed and connected with a smartphone through the NEXA App, the customers can experience advanced connected features like live vehicle tracking, driving behaviour analysis, preventive functional call, emergency alerts, and service due reminder amongst other features.
The vehicle tracking feature can help the owner keep a track on the location of the car in real time and also share it with others. Its Geo-fence feature can select a boundary area for the car and the owner will receive an alert if the vehicle crosses this designated boundary. In case the owner forgets where the vehicle is parked, the app can help the owner navigate to the car; or if the car is towed away from the parked location, an immediate tow alert will be sent to the owner.
The Emergency Alert can send a notification to trusted contacts in case the vehicle meets with a mishap (in the event of airbags getting deployed). This notification is sent with an exact location. A preventive functional call from the customer care will also be of assistance in the matters of towing and technician support after the Suzuki Connect analyses certain parameters of the vehicle automatically.
Moreover, the Driving Behaviour Analysis feature also gives the owner a detailed description of their driving style. It provides comprehensive information such as fuel consumption report, driving behaviour based on acceleration and braking patterns, trip details and an overall driving score which rates the driver out of 100 created from an algorithm based on several on-road parameters.
Another helpful feature is the Live Vehicle Status which takes the convenience of owning a car to the next level. Apart from the vehicle's location, this feature gives out information such as low fuel indication, over speeding alert, trip control and summary, along with in-depth vehicle statuses such as AC switch on indicator, odometer reading, seatbelt warning, average fuel consumption and battery voltage.
Last but not the least is the Service Due Reminder feature. The app has access to odometer reading. Consequently, the app calculates the service due date. This is a convenience feature where timely service can prevent issues with vehicle and help maintain optimum vehicle performance. The owner can also book appointments through the NEXA app itself.
The Suzuki Connect is available for all NEXA cars. This is a crucial the first important step taken by Maruti Suzuki to create an ecosystem of connected cars in India which can become a part of connected mobility lifestyle of the future.
