The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, made its debut at the Auto Expo in India and went on sale recently. The car is made in India and Suzuki has launched the car in Algeria for 12,99,000 Algerian dinars which comes to around Rs 9.27 lakh. The automatic variant costs 13,99,000 Algerian dinars equivalent of Rs 9.98 lakh here.
The Ciaz is Maruti Suzuki's new C-segment sedan competitor that borrows design cues from the Suzuki Authentics concept that was displayed at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. The aggressive fascia sports a trapezoidal grille, while the crease lines flow smoothly to the back of the car, which is laden with plenty of chrome. The vehicle is packed with a whole load of new features including infotainment system with bluetooth, AC with climate control, cooled glove box, steering mounted audio controls, ABS, EBD etc. On the safety front, the company has offered dual front airbags as standard.
The Algerian market will get only the petrol model unlike the Indian market where both petrol and diesel options are sold. This means the1.4-litre K-series four cylinder petrol engine that produces 91.1 bhp of power and 130Nm of torque will be available. The transmission options include a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki has entered Algeria making it the Ciaz's first export market and if latest reports are to be believed, the Ciaz might also be launched in Nepal and Indonesia by early 2015. The Ciaz is the SX4 replacement in India and goes up against the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. Maruti Suzuki also plans to export the sedan to overseas markets including the Middle East and Latin America.
