First showcased at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the Suzuki Celerio is set to be launched in Europe next month. Besides the familiar K-series unit, the European-spec model will be sold with a new 3-cylinder Dualjet engine. The Celerio, as we know, is currently sold in India by Maruti Suzuki.
The Europe-bound Celerio, which is being exported from Thailand, is scheduled to be launched in Germany on November 24. The car will be made available with two engine options. Design wise, the car shares its look with the India-spec model and even mechanically, the 1-litre K-Series engine produces the same amount of power as the model sold here.
Suzuki, though, will also offer its new three-cylinder DualJet engine with a higher compression ratio and twin fuel injectors. To extract as much efficiency as possible, the Celerio will be fitted with a stop-start system that will enable the vehicle to achieve a claimed figure of 27.7kmpl. The K-Series engined model, on the other hand, is rated at 23.25kmpl.
The Celerio will go on sale in Germany next month, with an annual target sales of 4,000 units. It will compete with the likes of Hyundai i10, Kia Picanto, Toyota Aygo and the highly acclaimed Volkswagen Up!
