The Suzuki Alivio sedan has been launched in China for 84900 Yuan (Rs 8.63 lakh). The car was first previewed at the Shanghai Motor Show in production form in early 2014. This was around the same time the India- spec Ciaz concept car made its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo. However, it appears that the China spec car has taken a little longer as its production version made its debut in November and is only being launched now.
In terms of external design, the Alivio is similar to the Ciaz in almost every respect save for different fog lamps and rear reflectors. It gets the same interior too but with an expanded feature list and increased safety package.
On the engine front, the Alivio gets the 1.6-litre petrol motor and the 1.4-litre four-pot petrol that churn out 120bhp and 100bhp respectively. Gearbox options are the five-speed manual and the rather ancient four-speed AT.
The Alivio has been priced in the range of 84900 Yuan (Rs 8.63 lakh) to 121900 Yuan (Rs 12.42 lakh) which is slightly higher than what its Indian relative has been priced at. However, it appears that the Chinese car offers more, justifying the higher price.
