Eight months after the UK launch of the new Vitara, Suzuki is introducing the S model in January 2016. This new addition offers a more sporting character to the Vitara line-up. The new Vitara has proved to be a popular model for Suzuki with over 5,000 units sold in the UK till date.
The S model is the first Suzuki to come with the brand’s new 140bhp, 1.4-litre direct injection turbocharged unit. This new engine has compact dimensions and offers 220Nm of torque from just 1,500rpm through to 4,000rpm. It allows the Vitara S to accelerate from 0-100kmph in 10.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 200kmph.
Suzuki is offering a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard while a 6-speed automatic is available optionally. The latter also features a manual mode via shift paddles behind the steering wheel.
Standard equipment for all Vitara models in the UK includes seven airbags, alloy wheels, audio system with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control with speed limiter and climate control. The new S model, on the other hand, is equipped with 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels, a unique grille design, satin silver door mirrors, LED Headlamps with red projector covers, rear upper spoiler and black side body mouldings. For the interior, the sporty theme continues with red interior stitching, red accents for air vents and instruments and aluminium alloy pedals.
Maruti Suzuki is expected to showcase the new Vitara at the Auto Expo in February 2016 and put it on sale later in the year.
