There are rare Porsche 911s (such as the 997 Sport Classic and the 993 Turbo S) and then there is the 964 Turbo Flatnose. Widely regarded as an unusual looking 911 even in the eyes of serious Porsche enthusiasts, the 964 Turbo Flatnose isn’t for everyone as it was made in extremely limited numbers. Now, however, there is one for sale with just 1,013km on the odometer.
A leading classic car dealer in the UK has put up this particular right-hand-drive 964 Turbo Flatnose for sale. What makes the car even more special is that out of the total production run of 76 units worldwide, Porsche only ever made 12 units of the right-hand-drive 964 Turbo Flatnose.
Back In 1993, as the very last 964 models were coming off the production line, Porsche made a final and limited series of 76 Flatnose vehicles. The cars received what Porsche calls X84 body package which included front wings and pop-up headlights from the 968, while the modified front spoilers also had air intakes for cooling and the rear wheel housings had air intake shafts similar to those of the 959.
Besides the X84 body package, Porsche also made X88 engine packages for the cars. The package included the same 385bhp, 3.6-litre flat six engine as the Turbo S, but featured an enlarged turbocharger, modified camshafts, valve timing, cylinder heads, inlet manifolds, an extra oil cooler and four-pipe exhaust system.
Finished in metallic black with black leather interior, the car as seen here has covered just 630 miles (1,013km) and comes with the X88 engine package. Irrespective of the bonkers price at which it will be handed over to the new owner, it’s a true collectors item indeed.
