It wasn’t certainly a usual Sunday morning for Mumbaikars. The enthusiasm to get a glimpse of the world’s most revered sports cars at the super car show brought in by Gautam Singhania was rather astounding.
The Parx Super Car show in its second avatar attracted had more than 50 mean machines from across the length and breadth of India hitting the roads of Mumbai. Some of the favourite among the crowds were the Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW, Maserati, the newly launched Nissan 370Z and of course the Rolls Royce.
Gautam Singhania, whose passion for sports cars has given the Mumbaikars an opportunity to see the racing machines, said, “The aim of our Parx super car show is to bring together car lovers and owners for a short drive across the city that will also help our fellow citizens to see the cars that they have always wanted to see. It also serves as a platform for luxury car lovers to interact with each other.†Known for his love for cars had got his collection of Ferrari 599, Ferrari 348, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and Ariel Atom 3 for a spin.
He added that considering the requests that he got after the first show which was a super success, the super car show might soon be held in other cities as well as it is impossible for everybody to come to Mumbai.
Satya Prakash Bagla, MD, Exclusive Motors, participant of the show and dealers of Lamborghini and Bentley said, “The show and the drive were absolutely fantastic. It is absolutely delightful to see so many car lovers coming to get a glimpse of their dream cars, especially on a Sunday morning. Even the city police was very supportive."
The rally began that began early in the morning saw around 53 cars heading for a spin to Bandra via the Sea Link and back. Cars that made the day for Mumbaites included: Ferrari 430, 599, 348; Porsche 911 Turbo, Targa 4, 911, Boxster and Carrera 997 and Panamera, Cayman; Rolls Royce Phantom; Lamborghini Gallardo, LP 560, LP 640; Aston Martin; BMW M5, M3, Z4 Roadster and 650i; Jaguar XFR; Lotus Elise; Ariel Atom 3; Maserati GTS, Bentley GT Speed, Flying Spur and Continental GT Speed; Mercedes CLK 500, SL 63, CLS AMG, C 63 AMG, SLK 350, CLS 350, CLS 500; Nissan 370Z and GTR.
Car lovers of all age, we even caught a 7-year-old kid from Santacruz who came holding hands of his grandfather and suffers from speech disability calling the names of each car as they drove out of the Vidhan Sabha parking lot. Some even requested the car drivers to rev up as they drove which was duly obliged and thus taking the euphoria to another level.
