General Motors India today announced the appointment of Mr. Sumit Sawhney as the new Vice President – Sales, Marketing & Aftersales with effect from August 1, 2010. He will replace Ankush Arora, who has been transferred to GMDAT Korea as Vice President – Sales, Service & Marketing.
Mr. Sumit Sawhney will be responsible for VSSM (Vehicle Sales, Servicing & Marketing) function for the Indian Sub Continent. He will be based at the Marketing Office in Gurgaon and will report to the President & Managing Director of GM India.
"India is one of GM’s most significant growth markets and we are delighted to have Sumit Sawhney to head our marketing, sales and service operations to maintain the growth" said Karl Slym, President and Managing Director, GM India. "Sumit in his current role as Director (Sales) has done an excellent job to increase sales of the company and he will continue to do his best to help GM India emerge as a volume player in this market." Mr Slym added.
Mr. Sumit Sawhney who joined GM India in 2001 has contributed immensely in the growth of car sales, network & business development, regional sales & service operations. He has over 15 years of experience in the areas of Sales, Marketing and network development.
"During his tenure, Ankush has made significant contribution for the growth of GM’s business in India. He has established Chevrolet brand in India and done a remarkable job in introducing a number of innovative marketing strategies to increase sales and dealer footprint", added Mr Slym.
Mr. Ankush Arora will be based in Seoul, Korea and will report to the President of GMDAT.
