Korean utility vehicle giant SsangYong is gradually creating a reputation for making strong, well-priced utility vehicles in the UK. The brand has just launched a new range-topping version for its Rexton W line-up. Labelled the ELX, this new version gets a number of additional features over the standard range. The vehicle has been launched with prices starting at £27,995 (Rs 26.52 lakh) in the UK.
The ELX version gets new beige/grey leather interior, new multi-function leather covered steering wheel, updated instrumentation, auto-dipping rear view mirror and heated rear seats. As for the exterior, there are 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights within the headlamp units and front parking sensors.
The Rexton ELX is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged diesel engine which delivers 155bhp of maximum power at 4,000rpm and 360Nm of torque between 1,500-3,000rpm. SsangYong says this unit has been designed to provide low-end torque whatever the conditions. There is a choice of 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed T-Tronic automatic unit from Mercedes-Benz.
The ELX version joins the existing Rexton W range in the UK which starts off at £21,995 (Rs 20.84 lakh).
