Korean utility vehicle maker SsangYong has renamed its B-segment crossover, the Tivoli for China. Labelled as Tivolan for the local market, the model has been shown at the Auto Shanghai 2015.
The Tivoli has been under development for the past three years and was previously seen in concept form with the project name X100. During its public debut, SsangYong made it official that it will launch the Tivoli in Korea in January next year.
The exterior design shows a modern silhouette, and embraces SsangYong’s new design language. While the brand has not yet revealed much in terms of powertrain options, the engine range for this new model will consist of two 1.6-litre units, in either petrol or diesel form. The powertrain options will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The crossover will be offered in both two and four- wheel-drive configurations.
Post its Korean debut in January, the Tivoli will go on sale globally during the second quarter of 2015. The ever rising demand for compact crossovers among Indian audience could mean the Tivoli could be considered for an India launch in the next couple of years.
