Ssangyong Motor has sold 13,232 units in the month of March this year. The company, a part of the Mahindra Group, has registered an 18.8 per cent increase in sales in comparison to the sales numbers in the same month last year.
The carmaker sold 5,850 cars in the domestic market while 7,382 vehicles were sold overseas. These include the cars sold via the CKD route. According to the company, their exports show an increase of 26.5 per cent. The introduction of the Korando C in the global market has helped the manufacturer to up its sales.
Ssangyong Motor has exhibited a boost in their sales ever since Mahindra & Mahindra has taken over the South Korean sports utility carmaker. The global demand for Ssangyong’s vehicles has increased.
Lee Yoo-il, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, said, “We have been posting a sales uptrend for the third straight month this year thanks to the strong sales of the Korando family brand. We will further expand our sales by exploring new markets and carrying out aggressive marketing strategies, based on the positive response to main models in the global market.”
In India, only the Ssangyong Rexton is currently available. It is sold in our country via the CKD route and is assembled at Mahindra’s Chakan facility. The manufacturer had exhibited the Rodius MPV and the Rexton 2.0 along with the concepts, the LiV-1 and XIV-1 at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2014. We can expect the automaker to widen its portfolio globally with the introduction of new products.
