SsangYong is steadily gaining a reputation for making strong, well-priced utility vehicles in the UK. The brand has just launched the Rexton W CSX which is a commercial version of the luxury SUV. The vehicle has been launched with prices starting at £18,495 (Rs 17.67 lakh) in the UK.
The Rexton W CSX is powered by SsangYong’s own 2-litre turbocharged e-XDi200 diesel engine. This Euro 5 compliant engine delivers 155bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 360Nm of torque between 1,500 and 3,000rpm. SsangYong says the unit has been designed to provide low-end torque whatever the conditions.
The CSX has a 6-speed manual transmission, and when going off-road, a low range option which splits the torque equally between front and rear axles to provide all round traction. The vehicle has an impressive 3 tonne towing capacity which is good enough for hauling a full-size caravan.
As for safety, the Rexton W CSX features Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Active Rollover Protection (ARP), ABS with EBD and Hill Descent Control (HDC), besides the dual front and side air bags. Given that it belongs to the light commercial vehicle sector, it is highly unlikely for this new version of the Rexton W to come to India. The Indian market will continue to get the regular Rexton W by Mahindra-SsangYong.
