Spyker, the Dutch supercar maker, is likely to make its India debut by the end of the year. A report from CarIndia says that the manufacturer has already appointed a Delhi based dealer to import its exotics into the country.
The name Spyker will sound very familiar to all those who follow Formula 1. They previously owned the team currently called Sahara Force India and competed in the sport during the 2007 season. The company currently has two road going cars; the C8 Aileron and B6 Venator.
The former is a two seater supercar that is powered by a 4.2-litre mid mounted mill that produces 400PS and 480Nm of torque. The B6 Venator was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and is their latest offering. Like the C8, the B6 is also a two seater sportscar. It is powered by a mid mounted V6 mill that produces 375PS. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The company during the launch of the Venator had said that it would be made available in markets like China, countries in the Middle East as well as India. This means that ideally this is the car that we (India) will be getting when the company begins sales here.
The expanding of niche manufacturers from their traditional home in Europe is seen as sign that the car markets in Asia are set for unprecedented growth over the next decade. It also means that Spyker won’t be only ones of their kinds to setup shop for newer markets.
