The Tata Bolt is going places. The hatchback’s next stop, as we gather, will be at the Geneva Motor Show 2015 and that too in a sportier avatar.
This sporty star from Tata will eventually herald the new performance brand Tata is planning to launch towards the end of the year. The sportier Bolt will use the existing 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine, but gets a kick in the power output wherein figures will be raised from 89bhp to around 120bhp, in fact, the engine is also likely to be torquier. To pump this mill, Tata will be using Fiat's tried and tested C501 gearbox which does duty in the diesel multi-jet powered models.
It is expected that the car on show will get a decent amount of extras to showcase its sporty front. From flared bodywork and 17 inch wheels, the interior too will get a makeover and reflect the car’s sporting intent. A noticeable change will be the hot hatch’s squat stance rather than the car’s tall ground clearance as seen in India. Even the suspension has been modified with stiffer damping and lowered ride height.
With the Bolt and Zest receiving a positive response from the Indian customers and auto critics alike, Tata is finally on its way of recreating a more amiable image for itself in the industry. This showcase of the sporty Bolt and the introduction of a performance brand from the company will only further its cause.
