Thanks to Mercedes’ new design approach, the latest-gen E-Class has ended up becoming a cross between the S-Class and the C-Class. Looking at these spy shots, the same can be said for the E-Class Coupe which will share plenty of design DNA with other Mercedes coupe models.
That being said, the upcoming E-Class Coupe won’t just be a glorified C Coupe. The former, in fact, will be based on the MRA rear-wheel-drive modular architecture, meaning more interior room and a boot that can be deemed practical.
The Coupe will follow in the sedan’s footsteps and ditch V6 engines in favour of the new modular inline sixes, as well as four-cylinder turbos for both petrol and diesel. The Coupe could even get a full-fat AMG version complete with a 4-litre V8 engine developing some serious horsepower.
The new E-Class Coupe is still under development and is not likely to be out before early next year. We expect it to be shown at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
