The specifications of the soon-to-be launched Mahindra NuvoSport have been revealed. This new compact crossover will be launched for the Indian market at a function in Mumbai on April 4. It is expected to replace the Quanto in Mahindra’s line up of passenger vehicles.
The NuvoSport will be offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 99bhp and 240Nm of torque in the power mode and 71bhp/180Nm in the economy mode. It will be offered with a five-speed manual but we can also expect an AMT variant possibly at the time of the launch itself. In fact, during the 2014 Auto Expo, Mahindra had first showcased its AMT gearbox with the Quanto.
It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh which will put it in a similar bracket as the TUV300. This means it will rival vehicles like the EcoSport and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. As we had said earlier, this indicates a strategy of multiple vehicles in the same segment to boost overall numbers.
