Mahindra XUV400 EL Pro Goes on a Road Trip!
That stylish future-ready SUV you’re looking at is the new Mahindra XUV4OO EL Pro. It packs in all the goodness of the XUV4OO but goes one - no, several - better. Priced at Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom), what the XUV4OO EL Pro foremostly represents is terrific value-for-money. Armed with that smashing price tag, the XUV4OO EL Pro introduces you to an elevated package of comfort, performance and, of course, the irresistible appeal of a sporty SUV.
Making headlines is the induction of Adrenox! Yes, the XUV4OO now gets Mahindra’s comprehensive infotainment programme, which makes on-the-go entertainment, real-world data and connectivity an absolute breeze. Just like the rest of this SUV, then. That should explain why setting off on a quick weekend road trip in the XUV4OO was the easiest decision to get three of my friends to agree on. And they really aren’t the split-second kind.
Understandably, they were visibly perplexed a few minutes into the journey on a hot Saturday noon, given the completely transformed cabin, new steering wheel and especially the dashboard layout that forms the highlight of this version of the XUV4OO. The new rear A/C vents didn’t go unnoticed either and, fueled by a very comfortable rear seat, exceptional ride quality and, of course, the comforting quiet of the cabin (it’s an EV, remember?), two of my friends fell asleep barely 15 minutes into the drive. So much for a fun road trip, eh.
For a moment, I did envy them - putting the XUV4OO’s best-in-class cabin space to good use is an ever-tempting phenomenon - but I had better temptations to give into. The energetic electric motor, for one. It offers such healthy acceleration and overall driveability that you tend to get quite indulgent, especially if you explore the three driving modes on offer - Fun, Fast and Fearless. While Fast offers the best balance in power delivery and energy consumption, I have to confess my bias towards Fearless. In addition to offering exciting, super-responsive performance, it also helps wake your friends up - and get them to be properly cheerful, while they’re at it.
This sort of indulgent drive experience is also encouraged by the ample range on offer - 456km (MIDC). Over a typical weekend trip, this comfortably translates to the possibility of a round trip without requiring a charging stop. That suited us particularly well since we could use our quick getaway to do all of the fun things we’d planned. Like hitting the beach, or falling asleep in the backseat, for instance…
We arrived in Alibaug at dusk - via the old route and not the fancy new Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, officially named as Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Trans Harbour Link - moments after the sun had sunk into the horizon. Snaking through this coastal town’s narrow roads was as easy as the walk on the beach that ensued, and even getting there proved to be rewarding thanks to the relaxing visual of watching coconut trees gently blur past through the generous glass panel of the electric sunroof.
There’s more about the XUV4OO EL Pro that makes it a truly value-rich and rewarding SUV - like its excellent ride quality, its comprehensive new digital instrument cluster and its impressive boot space - but wouldn’t you rather experience it for yourself than read about it here? Oh, and just a word of advice: when you do get yourself an XUV4OO El Pro, make sure you have a long list of friends who like spending weekends away from home. And that they’ll, at least sometimes, let you take the backseat, too!
