Maruti Suzuki launched the new XL6 in India today, with prices starting at Rs 9.79 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The model will rival against the likes of the Renault Lodgy and the Honda BR-V in the Indian market. We tell you what sets the XL6 apart from its competitors.
Exterior
The new Maruti Suzuki XL6 arrives with a feature-loaded list that includes LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, glossy black alloy wheels and glossy black ORVMs with integrated turn indicators.Â
The Honda BR-V receives halogen lighting across the body although it makes up for the exterior styling with the help of the attractive lighting at the rear as well as that of the alloy wheels.
The Renault Lodgy, on the other hand, sports the most conventional look and is loaded with chrome elements, something that we Indians love to adorn our cars with.
Interior
The XL6 is positioned as a premium MPV and hence, receives features such as the captain seats in the second row, black leather interiors and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Honda BR-V offers creature comforts in the form of automatic climate control, adjustable brightness for the instrument cluster and rear cup holders. The BR-V also features the longest warranty among these competitors by offering a three year/unlimited kms warranty scheme.
The Renault Lodgy takes the cake when it is compared in the cabin space department among its rivals. The model is available with a bench setup as well as captain seats for the second row, a feature that remains unique to the Lodgy.
Engine
The Maruti XL6 is available exclusively with a 1.5-litre KB15 petrol engine mated with a five-speed manual transmission and a four-speed automatic transmission. The Ertiga, on which the model is based, is offered with a BS-VI compliant diesel motor which the XL6 misses out on.
The Honda BR-V has powertrain options that include a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol unit and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit. Both engines are paired to a six-speed manual transmission as standard while the petrol motor can be opted with a CVT gearbox.
The Renault Lodgy is offered only with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. This engine though is available in two states of tune (84bhp and 108bhp), can be had only with a six-speed manual transmission.
