Spec comparison: Honda Amaze CVT Vs Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT

Compact sedans have always been a popular choice among car buyers in the country. This time around, the Japanese car manufacturer, Honda, has further strengthened its position in the compact sedan segment with the launch of the new Amaze which takes on the likes of the new Dzire in India. Interestingly, the new Amaze offers the segment first CVT option, while the Dzire offers the AMT option. Read below to find out what the top-spec automatic variants have got on offer.

Exterior

The new Honda Amaze now borrows styling cues from the latest generation of the Civic and the Accord. As compared to its predecessor, the new one gets a bigger hood which gives the car a more defined shape, along with LED headlamps, front-fog lamps and 15-inch alloy wheels. The rear tail lamps have also been revised for freshness. The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire on the other hand gets new horizontally slatted hexagonal grille with chrome lining and chrome accents on the air dam. The headlamps now have LED daytime running lamps embedded on it. The profile is also largely similar to the previous car with the signature flared wheel arches and all-new alloy wheels.   

Interior

Step inside and you will notice that the new Amaze borrows a few styling elements from its older siblings namely the Jazz, BR-V and the City. Speaking of features, it gets automatic climate control, electrically operated boot, engine start/stop button and welcome lights. The CVT option is also offered with paddle shifters. The new Dzire gets a flat bottom wheel for the first time in India along with wooden inserts on the dashboard, steering and the door trims. The car also gets an automatic climate control this time. As for safety, both the cars get dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard.

Engine

Honda Amaze offers a CVT option in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol version gets a 1.2-litre four-cylinder unit that generates 87bhp of power and 109Nm of torque. The diesel version on the other hand gets the older 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit that generates 100bhp/200Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the new Maruti Dzire gets a 1.2-litre four cylinder unit that generates 84bhp of power, while the diesel version gets a 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel Multijet engine that develops 74bhp of power.
