- Expected to be launched in production guise next year
- Hints at updates for future budget Skoda models
Skoda’s smallest EV was showcased as the Elroq concept in 2023 and now it has been spotted in production guise, at the Nurburgring no less! Pictures of the test mule showcase prototype features such as split headlamps, faux grille, and vertical air curtains.
In the overall look, also visible are the pronounced wheel arches and a sharply raked windscreen. Finally, the rear images showcase the signature Skoda taillamps and even the positioning of the logos that make this an unmistakable Skoda vehicle.
Our spy sources have said that the interior contains dual digital screens and an overall minimalistic cabin indicating that it will stay quite close to what was showcased with the concept car last year. Officially, Skoda has revealed that the Elroq will be 4.5 metres, which is longer than the Kushaq in terms of overall size.
The model is expected to ride on the MEB platform and will likely share several components with its more expensive electric siblings such as the Enyaq and the upcoming Superb EV. It is likely to have a 62kWh battery pack as well as a rear-mounted motor developing around 177bhp.
The car is of great interest to us as it gives us hints of what will come to the Kushaq and the Slavia as well as a future India-specific EV from Skoda that could arrive in the country by 2027. It will take on the Maruti eVX, Toyota Urban Sport, Honda Elevate EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Kia Carens EV, and also models from Mahindra and Tata.
