Skoda’s hybrid and EV charge to be led by Superb PHEV in 2019

-1.4-litre engine with an 114bhp electric motor
-likely to debut facelift for current generation Superb
-pre-cursor to fully electric Skoda model

Skoda, like its parent company Volkswagen, is going big on hybrid and electric cars and leading this charge will be the a plug-in hybrid version of their flagship sedan, the Superb. In its annual report for 2017-2018, Skoda has said that the PHEV Superb will be launched in 2019 with a fully electric car rolling out of their plant in Kvasiny in Czech Republic.

Reports suggest that this hybrid Superb will be powered by a 154bhp 1.4-litre mill and an 114bhp electric motor. The total output will be 268bhp and the car only be offered with a seven-speed DSG. We also believe that this PHEV Superb will debut a facelift for the model as it will be due for an update next year.

The Kvasiny Plant will be central to their EV plans as it being redone to accommodate the production of electric cars and will be fully ready in time to produce the PHEV Superb.
