- Third Skoda under the India 2.0 programme
- Will get 1.0-litre TSI petrol
Skoda’s third car under its India 2.0 programme, will have its naamkaran tomorrow. The automaker had announced earlier this year that it would enter the sub-four compact SUV segment and that the car would be launched early next year, most likely at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. The automaker has shortlisted Kwiq, Kylaq, Kosmiq, Kliq, and Kayaq as the five finalists for the compact car's name.
The Skoda Kylaq has been spied on quite a few times and is expected to pick up much of its design cues from the Kushaq. Being less than four metres, it is expected to take the benefits of the segment, something that will be quite visible beyond the C-pillar when looking at both cars side-by-side. The compact SUV will make use of Skoda’s 1.0-litre TSI petrol producing 113bhp/178Nm and will be offered with either a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT.
In the compact SUVs journey so far, this will be a major milestone as people like us (auto journalists) will now start to mention it in the same breath as cars like the Maruti Fronx, Maruti Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and the Tata Nexon.
