The production version of the Skoda VisionS will be showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It is expected to be called the Kodiaq and will be a seven-seater vehicle. It is expected to go into production soon after and will be launched early next year.
If we are to go by how the Superb emerged from the VisionC concept then the Kodiaq is expected to stay quite close to the VisionS concept car. Prominent elements include the grille, head lamps and complete rear end. However, the interior of the car will be toned down and is likely to mimic that of the current Superb. Skoda is also expected to bring a coupe SUV version of this vehicle. There is a growing interest for such body styles and it looks like Skoda wants a first mover advantage in the segment.
The engine lineup too is expected to be lifted from the Superb. This comprises a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with manual as well as automatic options. A plugin hybrid variant will be on offer at a later date.
Given Skoda’s new focus for its Indian operations, it is almost certain that this car, the Kodiaq, will be offered in India a few months after its global debut.
