- Will be showcased at the Paris Motor Show in October alongside the Kodiaq RS.
- The Vision RS will preview the next compact car from the Czech carmaker which we presume will be Fabia.
- Skoda is likely to bring the new Fabia in India as a part of the India 2.0 strategy.
Skoda will be revealing two big surprises this year at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Firstly we know there is the Kodiaq RS which the carmaker has been teasing since the SUV broke the ‘Ring record. Joining it on stage will be a concept car, christened the Vision RS; design sketches of which have been officially teased by the Czech carmaker.
Skoda says the new concept previews the new compact car from the carmaker. The new product will be “sporting Skoda’s 117-year motorsport history”. We guess the new compact product will be the new-gen Fabia. Or it could preview the new premium hot hatch which will be Skoda’s take on the VW Golf GTI.
The concept design sketches preview a new grille with aggressive body lines and a sporty stance. The show car will surely have extravagant wheels and minimalistic cabin to go with the radical yet characteristic styling. The sketch appears to be a new iteration of the Fabia nose with slim lights and flared wheel arches. The concept car measures 4356x1810x1431mm in dimensions with a wheelbase of 2650mm. The teaser video shows the design inspiration is taken from 130 RS rally car. No official details about the new concept’s powertrain have been released by the carmaker yet; so it is anybody’s guess about what the show car will have under the skin. It won’t come as a surprise if this car houses an electric powertrain given that it is a ‘Vision’ concept.
All will be revealed on the 4 October when the 2018 Paris Motor Show opens. If the concept spawns a new premium hatchback, we could even expect it to land on our shores as a part of VW Group’s India 2.0 strategy. Keep watching this space for more details regarding the new Skoda product and a detailed coverage of the Paris Motor Show.
