Skoda has updated the features list for its European-spec Superb sedan. The Czech automaker’s flagship four-door cruiser is already pretty luxurious for its class but now with these new set of upgrades, it should boost the sedan’s premium appeal. The updates are both for the interior and exterior and cover a broad base. Here then, is a round-up of the changes.
Revised infotainment system
One of the major grouses that had been pointed out against the Superb was the size of the display for the Infotainment system. Skoda had addressed this issue by updating the size of the display as well as adding SMARTLINK+ technology which allows users to make use of their navigation, music and communication apps directly from their smart devices. The largest size display which was 8.0 inches and offered with the Columbus spec system which has now been upgraded to 9.2 inches while in the Swing spec infotainment system, the display size has been boosted from 5.0 to 6.5 inches.
Optional seat massager and memory function
The driver’s seat for the first time can be had with an optional seat massager and ventilation function. In addition, there is also have a memory function for the seat. What’s more, Skoda has added a mic in the cabin between the front and rear seats to improve communication between the two sections.
Care Connect
All forms of infotainment system offered with the Superb now get remote smart device connectivity as well as emergency calling in the event of an accident or if the restraint system is triggered.
Park distance control
This updated Superb now gets Park Distance Control system with extended function manoeuvre assist, which now also detects obstacles in front of the vehicle. The system not only warns the driver but also applies the brakes if necessary.
External updates
The comprehensive cabin updates have been followed by new design for the alloy wheels as well as a new shade called Velvet red. Finally, chrome strips on side and doors and a black interior ceiling will be available for the top-of-the-line L&K trim level.
The updated Superb will go on sale in European markets from next week onwards and is expected to be sold as a 2018 Model year car. We will get these updates for the Superb in India, probably around the festival season and obviously, once the Kodiaq has been launched in the sub-continent.
