Worthersee in Austria is one city that has been hosting the annual gathering of Volkswagen and Skoda tuning enthusiasts for a long time now. Each year, fans from all over the world gather to see some pretty wacky concepts being unveiled by either Volkswagen or Skoda, and this year’s show is no exception. The latter brand has just unveiled a wacky looking pick-up version of its Fabia hatchback.
Labelled Funstar, this one-off pick-up was conceived by a team of young students at the Skoda Akademie vocational school. While based on the humble Fabia, the Funstar is a completely different looking vehicle and attracts a lot of attention, thanks to the metallic grey and green bodywork.
Underneath the fancy exterior lies Skoda’s familiar 1.2 TSI turbocharged engine with 120bhp of power. It is paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and benefits from a new exhaust system for a louder exhaust note.
The Fabia Funstar will make its public debut next month in Worthersee, alongside a few more equally wacky concept cars from the Volkswagen group.
