Skoda has announced that it will debut its 2013 Octavia vRS (Laura RS in India) at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed which will be held on the grounds of the Goodwood estate from July 11 to July 14. The Octavia vRS is a sportier version of the 2013 Octavia which made its global debut in December last year.
This sporty car from the Czech automaker is expected to use a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine which will churn out around 220bhp and 350Nm of torque. Reports also suggest that there will be a 250bhp petrol version as well as turbocharged 2.0-litre diesel engined version. Power will be transmitted to the wheels via a six-speed manual. Given that Skoda is owned by VW and has access to a large parts bin it is likely that Skoda might also give the option of a DSG dual-clutch with paddle shifters.
The sports version gets a sportier body; alloy wheels, boot mounted spoiler, revised suspension setup as well as different graphics scheme to differentiate it from the standard car.
Since Skoda launched the last Octavia vRs during the run of the previous vehicle in the country, we can expect that they will bring this machine in either Laura or Octavia form a few months after its global debut.
