Skoda currently has the all-new Karoq and Kodiaq in its SUV portfolio. But the carmaker wants to capitalise on the in-demand high-riding segment with the addition of another crossover. The Czech carmaker is, therefore, bringing another Vision Concept to the Geneva stage in March.
Called the Vision X, the new concept sketch teaser gives a glimpse of the urban crossover which showcases the brand’s SUV design language. This is the fourth Vision Concept from Skoda and like all the concepts before, the new Vision X will spawn the all-new Kamiq crossover which was leaked in China recently. All the design elements of the Skoda SUVs can be seen in the design sketch. The moustache grille flanked by the pair of wedged headlights and the floating roof effect seen on the Volvo XC40 is also present while the tail light design is similar to the ones seen in the previous Vision E Concept.
The Vision X is finished in the FlexGreen-painted hybrid study, has a large panoramic roof and rides on 20-inch alloy wheels which can be seen in the sketch. The sharp design was inspired by traditional Czech glasswork, says the carmaker. On the inside, the cabin sketch previews a futuristic design with a contoured dashboard, all-digital instrument cluster and freestanding infotainment screen. The illuminated elements in the cabin are made of cut crystal glass to create atmospheric lighting effects, boasts the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker.
No powertrain details are available at the moment but it will be an electric powertrain like all the Vision Concepts before it. The Vision X is a part of Skoda’s plan of expanding the global portfolio under the Strategy 2025. The plan includes plug-in hybrid vehicles in addition to all-electric cars. Then, every fourth vehicle the brand delivers worldwide will have a plug-in hybrid or purely electric powertrain by the middle of next decade.
