- Skoda Kylaq to be launched in H1 2025
- Will rival the XUV 3XO, Nexon, Brezza, and more
Earlier this year, Skoda announced its plans to work on a new sub-four-metre SUV for the Indian market. The company had organised a contest to finalise the name of this car, which is currently undergoing public road tests, spy shots of which have now emerged on the web.
As seen in the spy shots, the new sub-four-metre SUV from Skoda is wrapped in heavy camouflage. This test mule seems to be a production-ready unit, courtesy of select elements visible here such as the split headlamp design with sleek sweptback LED DRLs, squared LED headlamp cluster, wide air dam, and new LED taillights.
Elsewhere, the 2025 Skoda small SUV gets black roof rails, new front and rear bumpers, what seem to be blacked-out steel wheel covers, high-mounted stop lamp, tailgate-mounted number plate recess, ORVMs positioned behind the A-pillar, and a quarter glass for the rear doors.
In order to avail of the sub-four-metre tax benefits, Skoda is likely to offer the new SUV only with a 1.0-litre, TSI turbo-petrol engine that produces 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. Transmission options could include six-speed manual and torque converter gearboxes. Once launched, it will compete against the Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and the Renault Kiger.
