- Skoda Kylaq will be launched in India in early 2025
- Expected to make use of 1.0-litre TSI petrol
Skoda has revealed a second teaser image for its sub-four metre compact SUV that it will launch in India at the start of next year. The image reveals a rectangular shape for the taillamp, thick rear bumper, and a sloping glass house. You can also see roof rails and large Skoda lettering in the middle of the boot door.
Our estimates point to this being the teaser image for the concept car, while the production-ready model will be much closer to the Kushaq SUV as revealed by a plethora of spy images. In fact, the shape seen in the spy images shows a Kushaq-like silhouette up to the C-pillar, but the SUV’s shortened length will be the most prominent.
This will be Skoda’s third product for India under its 2.0 programme. It will be their most important launch as it is expected to be a volume spinner that will put them on a path to a five per cent market share by 2030. Logically, it will make use of the group’s 1.0-litre TSI petrol that produces 114bhp/178Nm and come mated to either a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT.
This car, when launched, will go up against the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Brezza, Maruti Fronx, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Kia Sonet, and the Hyundai Venue.
