Skoda plans to launch a new Fabia in the global market this year. The company has not revealed many details apart from a mention in the 2013 Annual Report.
The company seems to have high hopes from the Fabia which did pretty well in the global market with 2,02,000 units sold last year. It competes with the Suzuki Swift, the Hyundai i20 and the Seat Ibiza. Apart from the hatchback, Skoda had earlier revealed plans of bringing new products into their upcoming portfolio. This included the idea of bringing in the next-generation Superb by the end of next year.
The report revealed only a few details about their future product lineup. However, they have affirmed that they plan to boost their car sales to 1.5 million units a year. In this view, their strategy will be to introduce a completely new or a revised car from their existing portfolio every six months.
The situation back here in India is somehow completely different. Skoda was planning to stop the production of the Fabia here as the demand seemed to decline last year. Nevertheless, we think that with the introduction of this new Fabia in the Indian market, the Czech automaker might be able to revive its sales for the hatchback.
