According to a recent report from Car Magazine UK, an all-new seven-seater SUV is on the way from Skoda. The Czech carmaker is said to be working on a new range topping model which will take on the likes of the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Kia Sportage in the UK.
Skoda currently has the Yeti as its flagship off roader. Now the vehicle, as we know, is more of a crossover than a true-blue SUV. Skoda, then, would want to have a proper SUV in its lineup to cater to those looking for a comfortable family SUV.
Late last year, Skoda had revealed plans of expanding its SUV range to include an all-new seven-seater and a Citigo-based compact SUV. Now it seems clear that development for the first of the two is well underway. Skoda, reportedly, is already running a few prototypes as a part of the initial testing phrase.
Not many details are out on this unnamed model yet but if Car Magazine’s report is to be believed, Skoda could make use of the MQB-B architecture which will also underpin Volkswagen’s own new seven-seater SUV, due in the next couple of years.
