We’ve been anticipating the Monte Carlo Edition of the Rapid for quite a while now and now Skoda is finally launching the car next week. Changes are expected to be limited to cosmetic detailing, while mechanically it will continue to be offered with existing engine options.
Differentiating the car on the outside will be an all-new shade of red. Adding contrast will be a black grille, wing mirrors and yummier 16-inch alloy wheels. We also expect the car to get a subtle body kit to further enhance its sporty pretensions. As for the interior, the vehicle will get an all-black theme and faux-carbon fibre trim on the dashboard. The vehicle will get a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel and unique floor mats. In order to distinguish it from a regular model, Skoda will be offering upholstery with red stitching on the gear knob and aluminium sport pedals.
Powering the car will be the same engines. The diesel version will be the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that generates 108bhp of power, while the petrol version will get a 1.6-litre MPI engine that generates 103bhp of power. The petrol variant is available with a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox option. The diesel version, on the other hand, gets a five-speed manual and seven-speed DSG automatic transmission option.
Expect the car to cost an additional Rs 30,000 – Rs 50,000 over the regular top-spec model.
