Skoda’s Rapid facelift will be launched in the Indian market tomorrow after a slew of recent appearances on our roads.
Expect the Rapid facelift to get a reworked nose that houses a new grille, designed on the same lines as the Octavia, which splits apart the new headlights. There’s also a redesigned front bumper and new internals for the tail lamps. On the inside, though the basic layout will be retained, features like a new touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink, navigation and a reverse camera are expected to be introduced.
Though it is likely that the engines and transmissions for the Skoda Rapid facelift may be carried over from the present car, they may be retuned for better efficiency and performance. It is anticipated that the 1.5-litre diesel motor may get the same state of tune as the VW Ameo, so one can expect an increase from 105bhp to 110bhp while the torque remains identical.
It has been a while since the Rapid received any comprehensive upgrades, so this facelift is expected to spruce up its innings in the Indian market and will compete with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Volkswagen’s Vento.
Stay tuned to Carwale for details from the launch tomorrow.
