Skoda plans to launch the Rapid edition X in India soon. We have the car details ahead of its launch through a product marketing manual.
The Skoda Rapid Edition is basically the Monte Carlo edition, which was pulled off the carmaker's website citing a trademark dispute. The new Edition X also gets premium black styling elements like the Monte Carlo. There's a dual tone black roof foil, and the grille and OVRMs are also blackened. At the back, the spoiler and diffuser also gets the same treatment. The car sports a special 'Edition X' badge and rides on a new pattern of dual tone machined alloy wheels.
The cabin gets a new black dashboard and a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel. There's red stitching on the leather wrapped steering wheel and gear lever. The highlight in this special edition are the Onyx Alcantara leather seat covers. Furthermore, the interior also features sport pedals and sun blinds.
The Rapid Edition X will be offered with a choice of a petrol or diesel engine. The petrol model powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine produces 103bhp and 153Nm of torque, while the diesel model gets a 1.5-litre diesel motor that delivers 109bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. The engines come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Buyers looking for an automatic version can opt for a six-speed petrol automatic or a seven-speed DSG diesel trim. Prices for the Rapid Edition X are expected to be revealed soon, which we think are likely to be aligned with the prices of the Rapid Monte Carlo edition.
