Just a few days after the 2013 Skoda Octavia (Laura for India) was unveiled, spy pictures of the 2013 Skoda Octavia vRs have hit the Internet. The sports version gets a sportier body, alloy wheels, revised suspension setup and most obviously a significantly more powerful engine over the standard version.
On the outside, we can see a revised bumper as well as slight changes to the lights. Sportier wheels adorn the side and complement the skirts which have a black cladding in them. Also visible are larger brakes for more stopping power. In the back changes include an aerodynamically enhanced rear under body, larger exhausts and a spoiler.
However the major changes are believed to be under the hood and to the suspension. A Czechoslovakian motoring blog reports that the Octavia vRS will get a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine which will produce around 200bhp. There is also expected to be a turbo diesel engine which will produce around 177bhp and 350Nm of torque. Both engines will be mostly be mated to a six-speed manual as was the case with the previous version. We can suspensions tweaks for a sportier handling and more opportunities to do a little bit of sliding.
Since Skoda launched the last Octavia vRs during the run of the previous vehicle in the country, we can expect that they will bring this machine (if and when it’s made) in either Laura or Octavia form a few months after its global debut.
