Skoda has revealed the most powerful version of Octavia ever. The top of the range Octavia vRS 245 makes 15bhp more than the previous Octavia vRS 230 and 20bhp more than the recently showcased Octavia vRS. Available in sedan or estate body style, the car will make its global debut at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
Powering the most powerful Octavia yet is a turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI pushing out a whopping 245bhp of power and 370Nm of max torque. Skoda is giving a choice of six-speed manual transmission or, for the first time in the Octavia, a seven speed dual-clutch transmission. All the mad power is channelled to the front wheels through a clever VAQ limited-slip differential. It can do a 0-100kmph sprint in 6.6seconds, a tenth of a second quicker than the outgoing car. The estate, on the other hand, takes 6.7seconds. The saloon can reach a top speed 250kmph while the estate tops out at 245kmph
The vRS 245 is lowered by 14mm and sits on an Italian-esque 19-inch alloy wheels. The track is wider by 38mm than the outgoing car. There are driving modes to alter the drive, chassis and comfort settings with an adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) as an optional extra. Driving aids includes trailer assist, predictive pedestrian protection, of front assist, blind spot detect, rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, city emergency braking to name a few.
There are very subtle changes in appearance that differentiate the vRS 245 from the standard vRS. Like glossy black accents on the outside and specific decorative trims on the inside. A spoiler at the rear and a ‘husky’ exhaust sound exemplify the performance intentions of the vRS 245.
Skoda will showcase the Octavia vRS 245 sedan and Combi waggon at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show alongside the new Kodiaq Scout and Sportline. It is unsure whether Skoda will bring this high-performance variant of the Octavia in India.
