Skoda India will soon update the Octavia 1.4 TSI with a more powerful engine. The current mill will be tuned to produce 10bhp of additional power.
The internationally acclaimed 1.4 litre TSI petrol engine, currently used in the Octavia, produces 138bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. This motor will be soon upgraded to churn about 148bhp of power. We do not expect the present ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 16.8kmpl to change.
In terms of external appearance and features, the Octavia will continue to be offered with the current equipment list.
The power hike of 10bhp is not really a very big hike to impress driving enthusiasts and car aficionados in our country. But, considering the 1.4 TSI to be the entry-level engine option, it is a welcome change especially for prospective buyers looking for a new car this festive season. It will also appeal to the people who do not have high running to opt for the diesel variant.
