Skoda had unveiled the new Yeti facelift at the Delhi Auto Expo, earlier this year. Though it is based on the current car’s platform, the new Yeti adopts a more conservative look styled along the lines of Skoda’s current design philosophy as opposed to the current model, which sported quite a radical design. While the car has been on sale in the European markets for quite some time now, reports suggest that the new Yeti facelift will be launched in India on August 10.
Skoda offers the Yeti in two guises in the international market- a standard ‘City’ version and a more rugged ‘Outdoor’ version. While the Outdoor version is kitted with body cladding and bash plates, the City version gets a cleaner and elite design. The headlamps get a rectangular design and the front grille resembles the one in the new Octavia. The 16-inch alloy wheels have also been redesigned.
The Skoda Yeti facelift will continue to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine which produces 108bhp and 250Nm of torque in the front-wheel-drive version and 138bhp and 320Nm of torque in the all-wheel-drive version.
The Skoda Yeti was never taken seriously due to its offbeat looks despite excelling in almost all other areas. The new facelifted Yeti however, plays safe in the design department and is expected to attract the attention of a bigger audience. Its price bracket of Rs 16 lakh to Rs 19 lakh and its dimensions position the Yeti in a niche segment and it doesn’t really have any competitor.
