After multiple spy shots, teasers, and even a drive with a camouflaged car, Skoda Auto India is all set to pull the covers off the all-new Kylaq for the Indian market. The sub-four-metre SUV is underpinned by the carmaker’s MQB-A0-IN platform, which also forms the base for the Kushaq and Slavia siblings.
The Kylaq is set to join the competitive segment, which has the likes of the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and the Renault Kiger. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, TSI turbo-petrol engine. Tuned to develop an output of 114bhp and 178Nm of torque, the gearbox options will include six-speed manual and torque converter automatic units.
On the outside, the new Kylaq will get a split headlamp design, all-LED lighting, signature multi-slat grille, blacked-out alloy wheels, pentagon-shaped taillights, roofrails, fresh front and rear bumpers, and a new tailgate. Inside, it is expected to receive a touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, cruise control, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and a virtual cockpit.
