- New compact SUV from Skoda
- 1.0-litre TSI petrol
Skoda released a new Kylaq SUV teaser ahead of its global debut on 6 November. The teaser reveals the shape of the tail lamp, Kylaq badging at the rear, and the headlamps' outline. It also reveals that Director Rohit Shetty of Singam and Golmaal fame has directed the TVC and is expected to make a grand entrance with the car at the premiere.
The Kylaq is Skoda’s new sub-4 compact SUV and will be offered with the automaker's 1.0-litre TSI petrol producing 114bhp/178Nm. This engine can be had with either a six-speed MT or a six-speed torque converter AT.
It will compete with cars like the Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Toyota Taisor, Maruti Fronx, and the Mahindra XUV3XO. This will be an important car for Skoda as it will allow them to return to the sub-10 lakh market after a gap of nearly 10 years. It will also allow them to expand into tier-2 and tier-3 markets where they have a very small presence at present.
