- To arrive at local showrooms in January 2025
- Will have 350 dealerships by the end of next year
Skoda Auto India has begun production of the all-new Kylaq sub-four-metre SUV at its factory in Chakan, Pune. Based on the brand’s MQB-A0-IN platform that underpins the Kushaq and the Slavia too, the most affordable Skoda is priced from Rs. 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Skoda Kylaq is an important product for the company in India and this is evident as Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL), its parent brand, has enhanced the production facility by 30 per cent to produce 2.55 lakh units annually. Further, the automaker is currently expanding its dealer network across the country. With a focus on Tier-II and Tier-III cities in the near future, it aims to have 350 dealerships by the end of 2025.
Coming to the Kylaq itself, it is powered by a 1.0-litre, TSI turbo-petrol engine paired with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The deliveries of the Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza rival are set to begin on 27 January, with the car’s arrival at local showrooms preceding it. Feature highlights of the new Kylaq include an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, all-LED lighting, machined alloy wheels, six-way electrically adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and six airbags.
